Picture: They with thee

I think we haven't had Shakespeare for quite a while...So here he is again.

Picture from the beginning of ST III.

If I were just a bit better skilled I would have had a background image of Spock but I don't know (yet?) how to do it.

I kind of like the idea that Kirk could think this as well as he could receive an echo of Spock's mind voice of his thoughts.

The wonderful   <lj user="xlcatloveress">  saw this picture and read my comment and then *plong* she did some incredible catloveressy magic and created a picture with Spock in it. For me. FOR ME. Wow. Naturally I'm deeply grateful. I am dear!!
So, here it is:

EDIT II: And she did another one!!! I'm so lucky and grateful and thrilled and before I'm rambling on and on and on, here it is:

I fainted. Then I came back to upload this.

Gaaaaah, ST III. ♥

-flails around like an idiot-

This is so pretty, and the words fit perfectly... but oh my god, I can't stare at poor Kirk's devastated expression for too long, cause it just hurts too much, and these two break my heart. XD

But yes - very nicely done! Makes me want to write angsty post-TSFS fic...

Thank you very very much dear! I'm jumping up and down here: a comment, a comment!! :)

I just read the sonett and when I came to this verse I immediatly thought of them. (Actually, I always think of them)and I'm happy as a cuddled sehlat that you like it and think it fits.

I love Kirk's expression there - and poor him, Sarek makes him to relive Spock's death all over again. Kirk (or Shatner) is so incredibly good at angsting, he's a freaking angsting god IMHO. I adore that ST III. And II.

Anyway, it hurts me too, as so many things do. And isn't it that their relationship seems often so fragile?

Oh please write write write - although, an angsty fic by you...I can already anticipate the intensity and I don't know if my heart will be strong enough...*angsts* :)

Hugs and love,

So ... I'm in the States (gonna reply to your email and comment soon-ish *chuckles*), doing vacation-y stuff but suddenly had this urge to turn on my laptop and check lj - finding .. this. I just love the quotes you choose for your images, they fir them so wonderfully and achy. Now .. then I saw your little note about having wanted to add in Spock but not being able to and all, and I thought to myself that, hey, let's just create a li'l present real quick. So, here I present:
I hope you like it :) And now, back to my vacation-y things ;)

How when why what.....

How did you do it? It's absolutely fabulous!! Can I post it here as well and of course credit you? Can I Can I?

I'm totally flattered and honoured and I can't find the words...and WOW doesn't even start to describe it. Thank you so much! For having looked at it at the first place, for the nice words, and for the picture. It's perfect now. I'll post it to our German forum right away :)

Have a fantastic vacation and sunshine and no stress about answering, we hear each other when you're back!!!! Oh, and THANK YOU!!!!

*chuckles* Still here while my friend's taking a quick shower ;) Yes, of course you can post it, definitely :) I'd be flattered.

How I did it - well, I use paintshop which is kinda like photoshop but I got it cheaper. I googled a Wrath of Khan image of Spock's
and found this one that I liked on trekcore: http://trekcore.com/specials/rare/TWOK_Spock_PBShot.jpg
Next, cut him out of the background by simply erasing it, and matched the coloration of his pic to the one of Kirk's by using 'adjust color balance - manual color correction' and matching one of his skin tones with one that was similarly lighted on the Kirk pic.
Then I erased any remaining hard lines of the pic with him (like where his arms meet the edge of the picture, and where he is cut off at the waist at the bottom edge of the image), setting the eraser to an opacity of 35% so that it would erase in a softer setting rather than create more 'hard lines'.
Next, I softened those edges, using the Soften Brush, and I also softened any edges I had created by cutting him out of his background (like at his hair or neck etc.). I tend to not use Soften at 100% either, 'cause it tends to blur just way too much then, so I had the brush set to 60%.
In my next step, I copied and pasted (as new layer) the Spock image into the Kirk one and moved him to the position where I wanted him to be, then resized the Spock image to 80% of its original size (otherwise it would have overlapped too much of the writing and Kirk).
My last step was to change the Spock layer's opacity to .. I think it's 40% but I usually just fiddle with it until it looks ok to me. That makes him 'fade' slightly to where he now becomes transparent.
Eh voila, done :) Since it was done fairly quickly, it's a bit sloppy in spots, and usually I'd clean it up a bit more but I was rushing to get it done *chuckles* If you wanted me to, I could also add this ( http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/memoryalpha/en/images/e/e9/Spocks_death_1.jpg ) for a different, even angstier version of the pic ;) Just let me know!
I'm glad you liked it though and .. oh, about that German forum? They never got back to me with a validation .. unless I missed it landing in my junk folder while I was traveling? Hm ..

Thanx dear!

It's this part:
"cut him out of the background by simply erasing it, and matched the coloration of his pic to the one of Kirk's by using 'adjust color balance"
I somehow can't do. I've got photoshop and I even got quite a comprehensive book for it and still...I think I at some point need a real person (you know, like a REAL person, quasi live) to show me those things. Am working on that :)
But with your explanation I will try again.

The other picture of Spock you're offering is so tempting as well...oh dear. But I like your first one but the other one is tempting but I like your first one but the other one is tempting *STOOOOOOOP* Sorry, dear, I just don't know...*blink*

It's a pity you haven't got an answer from the K/S Welt yet...if you want, I can write a message to the mod and ask about it. And you can't use it already can you? Well, you probably tried that already...

Sending MANY Spirk sparks over the ocean,

I can show you when we meet ;) At least I can with paintshop, and I think photoshop isn't that different :) I have to warn you though, I am entirely self-taught, no tutorials or books or whatnot, simple trial and error. But we'll see what I can teach you ;)

Also, yeah, K/S Welt is still locked to me, no access - could you poke the mods for me, pretty please? I'd appreciate it!

And just so you won't have to be tortured any longer by indecision, here ya go ;) http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a15/SilkeMMM/Star%20Trek/tracionn2jpg.jpg

Give me a second. Or two.

And somethig like this you can do within what, 2 minutes???? I'm not exactly envy but I think I am. In a good way though.
Oh and I would promise to be a good, silent, attentive, teacher-petting student...*twinkle*

It's...lovely and heartbreaking and I THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Guess I have to edit my entries again and I'm not the least sorry about it. Not the least.

I will note the mod of K/S Welt immediately and hope she'll answers, to you or me.

Best wishes from this side of the world,
